Youth Code of Conduct & Facility Rules
We at the Fair Acres Family YMCA are committed to Developing Youth, Encouraging Healthy Living, and being Socially Responsible in our intent to strengthen our community. With this opportunity come some responsibilities that are shared in this document.
With a clear understanding of expectations for young people using the facility, we hope to encourage independence through responsibility. In the event that these policies and expectations are not met the YMCA will proceed with the following progression of discipline:
· 1st offense – WARNING
· 2nd offense- LAST WARNING
· 3rd offense- LEAVING THE FACILITY AND GROUNDS FOR THE DAY
Basic Y Rules:
· All participants are expected to show respect to others and staff and to be considerate of others.
· Swearing, fighting, excessive loud conversation, and/or rowdy behavior are not permitted
· Possession or use of drugs, alcohol, vaping, and/or tobacco products is strictly forbidden at all times and is cause for immediate dismissal from the YMCA property; this includes the external grounds/parking lot.
· All participants must check in at the front desk and main in designated youth areas according to age & orientation requirements (Youth Fitness Room, Youth Rec Room, Adult Fitness Room, Adult Weight Room, Gym & Pool.)
· Food and drink are ONLY allowed in the Youth Rec Room, (except water)
· Earbuds/headphones, are required to listen to music by phone or other listening devices (We should not be able to hear your music).
· If you are asked to leave the YMCA for any reason, you must leave the property, or local authorities will be contacted & resulting in an immediate suspension.
· Free coffee, sweetener, creamer, etc. is for Adults only
GYM & Racket Ball Court Rules:
· No drinks in the gym or racket ball courts (except water)
· No kicking basketballs in the gym
· No basketballs on the racquetball court
· No footballs or baseballs in the gym or racquetball courts
· No hanging from the rims in the gym
· In the Gym share the court: full-court games are not permitted
· Shirts MUST be on at all times
· Everyone must clean up after themselves and pick up all of their trash
PLAYGROUND Rules:
· This playground is designed to serve children between ages 6-11 years old and those with special needs
· NO CHILDREN 11 and over allowed on the playground, unless in a YMCA program
· All other children must be accompanied by a parent during that time
· Playground is open from Dawn to Dusk. See the front desk for more questions
Youth Age 8-17 ORIENTATIONS
Orientations are not only fun but required for equipment use for your youth’s safety. Your child can learn from expert fitness professionals how to utilize weight and cardio equipment specifically designed for children ages 8-14 in our Youth fitness room. Healthy habits can start today.
· Age restrictions apply in Youth/Adult Fitness Areas
· Shirts and Closed toes shoes must be worn at all times in Youth/Adult Fitness/Weight Areas
· Selfies and photography by members are strictly prohibited in Youth/Adult Fitness Areas/Locker Rooms and Rest Rooms. Per the membership application agreement approved program photography is permitted in authorized locations by authorized staff for the purpose of marketing
· Youth aged 8-17 must have an Orientation before utilizing equipment in the Youth Fitness Room
· Orientations are required and A Parent Must be Present during a Youths' Usage of the Adult Fitness Room age 12-14
· Youth must have an Adult Weight Room Orientation before utilizing the Adult Weight Room and may only use the Adult Weight Room after Orientation during Youth hour M-F 3:00-6:30 pm Age 13-17.
· No Child Under The Age Of 13 are Permitted in the Adult Weight Room
· Children must be 12 years old to be in the center without a Parent
· No Siblings, Cousins Or Young Adults May Substitute As A Parent Chaperone.
Pool Requirements:
· Children under the age of 9 must be accompanied by a parent in the Therapy & Lap pool areas.
· Children aged 9-11 may enjoy the lap pool without a parent; however, Parents must be present in the center.
· Children aged 12-17 may enjoy the lap pool without a parent present in the center
· Children aged 12-17 may only use the therapy pool with a parent present in the therapy pool area.
· Swimmies are required for children 1-2 or who are not potty trained
· Parents are requested that children age 9 and older should use gender-appropriate locker rooms, please be aware shower areas are in the back of locker areas.
